In the spirit of Occam’s Razor, and perhaps even more specifically Hanlon’s Razor, today during an impromptu meeting the term “Rhoades’ Razor” was coined. So here I give it to you, my eponymous law, for all posterity to use:
The simplest answer is that you are an idiot.
Much like the Hanlon principle (“do not attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity”), this new principle can find quite a few comfortable homes and uses in the modern day business world.
So go, I say unto you, go and point out idiocy when you see it. Drive it from its home. Make it suffer. Punish it. Lest it turn you into one of its latest victims and servants to the status quo: the acceptance of the unnacceptable. Because if that happens, well then the simplest answer is that you are an idiot.
